Can anyone steal my UserName and Passwords?
They can, if you let them. You can prevent password theft and TradeKing offers you the tools to do so.
Accounts at some of TradeKing's competitor online brokers have recently been infiltrated by computer hackers in Eastern Europe and Asia in one of the biggest cases of identity theft to strike the U.S. securities industry. Although TradeKing has not experienced the problem that some of its competitors have, it is taking this issue very seriously.
Avoid accessing your account from public computers.
Public computers found at Internet Cafes, libraries, hotels, etc. can be accessed by "hackers" who may have installed software in them to record your key-strokes before they are encrypted by the browser you are using to access the Internet. It's like someone standing over your shoulder, looking at what you type.
Choose a Trading Password.
TradeKing offers two levels of security by letting clients set up two passwords: one to access account information, one to enter orders and execute other sensitive transactions. By setting up two different passwords, and not entering your "Trading Password" when you log in, you greatly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your account. Keep your account information secure and confidential. Never share your UserName or Password.
What can you do to minimize identity theft?
*Access your TradeKing account only from computers that you trust.
*Under Services\Settings\Change Your Trading Password, select a Trading Password that is different from your current login password.
*Change your passwords frequently.
